Ordering Recommendations

Screening for urinary tract diseases and some nonrenal diseases.

 

Microscopic reflex criteria:

  • Leukocyte Esterase >Trace OR
  • Nitrite = positive OR
  • Protein > 1+ OR
  • Blood > 1+ OR
  • Urine Clarity = Cloudy or Turbid


Urine culture reflex criteria:

  • WBC >11/hpf OR
  • Leukocyte esterase = 2+ or 3+ OR
  • Nitrite = positive
